The Brooke Chapman Memorial Kids’ Art Gallery is a special part of Art on the River at Rockin’ the River Festival, created to celebrate the creativity, imagination, and talent of young artists in our community. We want children of all ages to feel welcome to participate. This gallery is not just for kids who think of themselves as “real artists.” It is for kids who love to draw, paint, build, color, design, and create. Sometimes children hesitate to enter because they think their work is not good enough, but this gallery is meant to encourage them, celebrate them, and give them the chance to share what they have made. You never know what can happen when a child feels seen, supported, and proud of their work. This is a wonderful opportunity for young artists to have their artwork displayed publicly and be part of something exciting in the community. There will be ribbons and prizes in a variety of categories, making it a fun and meaningful experience for everyone who enters.
Judging
This year’s gallery will be judged by two respected arts leaders: Andrea Peck Executive Director, Johnson Center for the Arts Brenda Campbell Site Director, Amp Up Arts Troy Their involvement makes this a meaningful and encouraging experience for the children who participate.

If your child is nervous about submitting, that is okay. Many children feel unsure at first. Encouragement matters, and this is a chance for them to be brave, try something new, and be part of a gallery experience that honors their creativity. Every young artist starts somewhere. What matters most is participating, sharing their work, and enjoying the experience. We would love to see the imagination, color, ideas, and personality that local kids bring to the gallery. Let your child know: their art matters, and we would be excited to have it in the show.
